How to Impress a Client!!!!

I was in the airport VIP lounge en route to Seattle a couple of weeks ago. While in there, I noticed Bill Gates sitting comfortably in the corner, enjoying a drink.

I was meeting a very important client who was also flying to Seattle, but she was running a little bit late. Well, being a straightforward kind of guy, I approached the Microsoft chairman, introduced myself, and said, "Mr. Gates, I wonder if you would do me a favor."

"Yes?"

"I'm sitting right over there," pointing to my seat at the bar, and I' m waiting for a very important client. Would you be so kind when she arrives as to come walk by and just say "Hi Tom?"

"Sure."

I shook his hand and thanked him and went back to my seat. About ten minutes later, my client showed up. We ordered a drink and started to talk business.

A couple of minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It Was Bill Gates. "Hi, Tom," he said.
I replied, "Shut up, Bill, I'm in a meeting."

Sang Kelinci kembali bersantai,Sambil memakai kaca mata hitam dan topi pantai Tiba tiba datang se-ekor serigala besar yang hendak memangsanya,Lalu kelinci berkata :' Kalau memang kamu berani, hayo kita berkelahi di dalam lubang kelinci,Yang kalah akan jadi santapan yang menang, dan saya yakin saya akan menang.'Sang serigala merasa tertantang, ' dimanapun jadi, Masa sih kelinci bisa menang melawan aku ?' Merekapun masuk ke dalam sarang kelinci, Lima belas menit kemudian sang kelinci keluar sambil menggenggam Setangkai paha serigala dan melahapnya dengan nikmat.

Sang kelinci kembali bersantai, Sambil memasang payung pantai dan merebahkan diri diatas pasir, Tiba tiba datang se-ekor beruang besar yang hendak memangsanya, Lalu kelinci berkata :' Kalau memang kamu berani, hayo kita berkelahi di dalam lubang kelinci,Yang kalah akan jadi santapan yang menang, dan saya yakin saya akan menang.'Sang Beruang merasa tertantang, ' dimanapun jadi, Masa sih kelinci bisa menang melawan aku ?' Merekapun masuk ke dalam sarang kelinci,Tiga puluh menit kemudian sang kelinci keluar sambil menggenggam Setangkai paha Beruang dan melahapnya dengan nikmat.

Pohon kelapa melambai lambai, Lembayung senja sudah tiba, habis sudah waktu bersantai, Sang Kelinci melongok kedalam lubang kelinci, sambil melambai 'Hai, keluar, sudah sore, besok kita teruskan !! '

Keluarlah se-ekor harimau dari lubang itu, sangat besar badannya. Sambil menguap Harimau berkata ' Kerjasama kita sukses hari ini, kita makan kenyang Dan saya tidak perlu berlari mengejar kencang.'

Nb.
Winner selalu berfikir mengenai kerja sama, sementara Looser selalu berfikir bagaimana menjadi tokoh yang paling berjaya.

LG Viewty DItangan Darwis Triadi

Semakin tingginya tingkat resolusi kamera ponsel membuat aktivitas fotografi makin menyenangkan. Bentuk fisik yang kompak dan ringkas serta kemampuan multimedia menjadikan penggunanya bisa memotret dimanapun dan kapanpun. Fotografer profesional, Darwis Triadi berbagi pengalamannya menggunakan kamera ponsel LG Viewty (KU990) pada salah satu acara workshop yang diadakan oleh LG Mobile Communication Indonesia (LGMCI) di Mall Kelapa Gading, baru-baru ini.

"Menggunakan kamera ponsel cukup mudah karena dimana saja dan kapan saja selalu menemani kita, tapi yang harus diperhatikan adalah diantaranya cara memegangnya harus benar, karena kalo tidak hasil gambarnya akan blur, mengingat bentuk grip (pengangan) pada ponsel tidak ada. Lalu perhatikan pula situasi pencahayaan dalam mengambil obyek foto, maksimalkan fitur yang ada misalnya jika cahaya kurang kamera ponsel bisa diseting ke mode yang lebih sesuai misalnya night mode,"papar Darwis.

Lebih lanjut Darwis menjelaskan,"LG Viewty untuk teknik paning sangat bagus, terutama untuk setingan pada ISO400 dibandingkan dengan menggunakan ISO800," tandas Darwis pada rileks.com. Selain digunakan memotret dengan teknik paning, LG Viewty juga bisa mengedit hasil foto secara instant terutama foto orang. Fitur Morphing yang ada didalamnya memungkinkan pengguna menambahkan efek-efek khusus pada fotonya. Misalnya foto orang dengan mata yang terlalu sipit dengan efek morphing bisa diperbesar hingga bentuk proporsionalnya, demikian sebaliknya. Mau menghancurkan wajah orang yang tidak kita sukai, bisa juga, atau menambah efek bunga, heart, dll, semua bisa dilakukan di LG Viewty.

Selain itu tips paling penting dari Darwis untuk pengguna ponsel berkamera, "Lebih baik dekati obyek daripada menggunakan fasilitas zoomnya. Alasanya zooming pada kamera ponsel masih digital zoom bukan optical zoom. Sehingga bila dilakukan zoom hasilnya akan pecah. Berbeda dengan optical zoom yang ada di kamera poket. Karena pembesaran optical didukung lensa kamera, sedangkan pembesaran digital tidak."

"Saya lebih suka melakukan lock obyek dengan fitur outofocus baru saya cari komposisi yang tepat untuk membidiknya. Karena dengan begitu fokus tidak akan berubaah sepanjang kita dan obyek tidak melakukan pergerakan yang mengubah jarak, tapi selama masih geser ke kiri dan kekanan fokus kamera LG Viewty tetap akan mengunci obyek, jadi ini sangat memudahkan saya mengatur komposisinya," papar Darwis.

Menyinggung soal fungsi flash pada kamera ponsel Darwis mengatakan,"Gunakan lampu flash hanya untuk memotret dengan obyek foto tidak lebih dari 2 meter dan dalam keadaan minim cahaya, lebih dari itu tidak ada gunanya karena jangkauan lampu flash tidak akan maksimal diatas 2 meter." Secara overall, Darwis mengatakan bahwa LG Viewty memiliki kemampuan fotografi setara dengan kamera pocket dan setingkat lebih baik diantara ponsel berkamera dikelasnya.

"Fitur, lensa, dan hasil fotonya bisa dikatakan ini (LG Viewty) adalah kamera berponsel," pungkas Darwis. LG Viewty merupakan ponsel kamera dengan kekuatan kamera 5MP dan menggunakan lensa Schneider Kreuznach (lensa kelas satu standar eropa). Kemampuan merekam video dengan kecepatan 120fps. kecepatan tertinggi rekam video yang pernah ada didunia saat ini.(heri)

What Does a Coach Do?

The above question is a question on many people's mind. What do I do? The best way to think about it is to think of a sports team. A Coach is there with the team. The Coach does not play in the game, but the Coach helps the players identify areas to improve their game.

The following is a list of things a sports Coach does with their teams:
- they provide encouragement, even when the team loses the game
- they encourage players to discuss all aspects of the game, the good and the bad
- they provide inspiration and motivation to the players by helping them see the positives
- they have a vision for the team, and are constantly sharing this vision with the players
- they constantly look for ways to help their players by identifying training needs, areas where they can help the player improve
- they are open to change, will listen to change, will listen to their players ideas, and the Coach is willing to make changes to see the team succeed
- they communciate expectations, and work with the team to meet the expectations
- they help the team stay focused on solutions rather than problems
- they believe in their people and work to ensure potential is developed
- they are demanding also wanting the team to do better; they ensure the skills the players have learned are practiced
- they will focus on the "why" something happened, not the "how" did it happen
- when on the playing field, the minute to minute decisions are made by the players, the Coach does not make all the decisions
- they sit on the sidelines and observe, they do not go on the field and play the game.

However, if the game is not going well, they will make changes for the overall good of the
team
- when the team wins the game, the team is in the lime light, the Coach is not the center of attention
- they create shared goals among the team
- they spend a lot of time getting to know and understanding each individual on the team
- they are committed to the team

If you translate the role of a "Sports Coach" to a "Business Coach" you find similar attributes that apply in a business environment. A "Business Coach":
- provides encouragement
- encourages open discussion
- provides inspiration and motivation
- provides direction to the team and shares the vision of the corporation
- identifies training needs and areas requiring improvement
- is open to change, willing to try new ideas
- communicates expectations
- focuses on solutions not problems
- believes in people, sees the potential
- has high expectations, ecourages and assists people to achieve their potential
- removes barriers and roadblocks to team goals
- ensures skills learned are put into practice
- focuses on the “why”, not the “how”
- steps in if team is outside the boundaries or not meeting expectations
- leaves the day to day decisions to the team
- rewards team for accomplishments, gives the team credit
- spends time with the team, identifying peoples strengths and weaknesses, understanding cultural differences, and issues that face each individual

A Coach, in a business environment, is also a role model for staff. The Coach sets an
example for others to follow. The behavior of the Coach, especially when all is not going well, is especially important. The Coach cannot say one thing and do another.

Why All This Talk of Coaching Rather Than Managing?

For years, there have been managers. Why now this change to a coach? The two main reasons

are:
- global competition
- technology

No longer can issues be passed up the ladder sometimes taking days for a decision. Decisions need to be made quicker than ever before because the consumer today is more demanding. Thanks to technology, information is now readily available to us, and there is lots of it. With all the information available today, the manager can no longer have all the answers. Whereas, in a coaching role, you are not expected to have all the answers. In a coaching role, you ask the questions and rely on your staff, who become the experts, to provide the information.

The result of global competition and the increased information is that managers now must become coaches. We found a job description of a manager with the following statement:
"controls, directs and supervises the day to day operations."

A job description of a coach would be: to lead, motivate, create a vision, and teach staff the skills needed to empower them to help make us a successful and profitable company." A real difference in the two descriptions.
You cannot manage men into battle.
You manage things; you lead people."

What happens if companies do not change? Simply, they will not survive. They will not attract the talent they need as employees no longer will conform to complying with the orders issued by managers. Today's employees are more educated and need to see the whole picture.

With more and more competition, due to global markets, companies must constantly evaluate how they are doing business. Change is going to speed up before it slows down. No longer can the manager do it all, know it all, and be it all. You need your employees to speak up and speak out! They are the ones closest to your front line and they are the ones who often have the best ideas as they are closest to your customer. So, by coaching employees rather than managing them, you end up with a more dynamic result!!

Rather than clinging to past ways, look at changing to a coaching style. Some managers have concerns about letting go. We will address these concerns in later articles.
